Our Church Roots
In 1839, Rev. Rathburn re-organized this class and appointed Robert Brown class leader. The first church building of the Brownsdale
Methodist Episcopal congregation was completed and dedicated in 1860
on a piece of land a short distance south of the village of Brownsdale. In 1956, Brownsdale Church became a station appointment. The name Brownsdale Church was changed
to Nixon Methodist Church in 1965, due to its location in the village
of Nixon.
