Organizations

The following are organizations that have been formed
and meet within Nixon United Methodist Church and it's congregation:

meeting times for each organization throughout the year.)

United Methodist Men
The United Methodist Men meets on the third Monday of each month except for June, July, August and December for dinner, fellowship, a program and a business meeting. The United Methodist Men has a chicken barbecue each July and an occasional spaghetti dinner to raise funds for mission work and special projects.

United Methodist Women
The United Methodist Women meets on the third Thursday of month except for June, July, August and December at a local restaurant for lunch, fellowship and a business meeting. The United Methodist Women holds a rummage sale fundraiser in April each year to raise funds for mission work and special projects.

Youth Group
The Nixon United Methodist Youth Group consists of youth in grades 7 through 12. They meet a minimum of twice a month usually on Sunday evenings for fun and spiritual activities. They participate annually in World Vision's 30 Hour Famine. Last summer four of their members went to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville to attend Youth 2003, an international gathering of United Methodist Youth that meets every 4 years.

Church Choir
The choir sings every Sunday during the school year and practices on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 PM . Each year they bless the congregation with a Christmas cantata sung on the Sunday before Christmas.

Adult Bible Study
Pastor Keith leads a Bible Study for interested adults each Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM and Wednesday morning at 10 AM . Each study features group discussions and questions for the pastor on biblical texts. Recent studies have included Paul's letter to the Romans and a study on the life of Jesus.

SWSH
SWSH stands for Strong Women Soft Hearts. It is a small group for women, which meets weekly Monday evenings during the school year for spiritual growth, study and mutual encouragement.

Stress and Anxiety Support Group
The Stress and Anxiety Support group meets weekly Sunday evening to provide practical support for those struggling with stress and anxiety issues in their lives.

Scouting Ministries
The Nixon United Methodist Men is the sponsoring organization for Boy Scout Troop and Pack 53. The Boy Scout, Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout den meetings are held in the church facilities. In the past couple of years, several boy scouts from Troop 53 have been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the most prestigious rank in scouting.

In 2003 Nixon United Methodist Church has been proud to have both Brownies and Daisies meetings held in the church facilities.
